Murad Khan Mumtaz Glimpses of contemporary miniature Venue: La Caja Blanca Private View: 24.03.2012 From 11:00 to 14:00 Participating in Art Palma Brunch 2012
Mumtaz (Pakistan 1980) is one of the most prominent members of the new generation of contemporary master miniaturists who develop their practice at the crossroads between Western and Eastern traditions in visual arts with a special emphasis on ancient techniques such as Mughal Miniature. For Mumtaz's first exhibition in Spain, La Caja Blanca brings together a selection of miniature paintings developed on newspaper clippings and dollar bills, which the artist created during a Fullbright scholarship in Columbia University, and a series of new pieces previously unseen where the artist uses original Pakistani rupees.

La Caja Blanca is pleased to present Mitos Colom's second solo show.
With his characteristic sense of humour and science-fiction aesthetics, Vuelo 19 (Flight 19) demonstrates the scepticism with which the current generation of youth rejects the stereotypes of their elders and take it upon themselves to determine the reality that surrounds them.

La Caja Blanca will open its new season of exhibitions on Thursday 21st of September with a solo show by the Irish photographer and video artist Richard Mosse.
In a time when war torn cities and landscapes devastated by natural disasters fill the newspapers and television programmes we consume, this young artist questions the validity of the images distributed by the media industry as a means of communicating the reality of human suffering.
Noves Presències is a yearly initiative designed to identify talented
artists (under 35 years of age) which have had little or no exposure within the
commercial arts circuit, and give them a platform through which to present their work
to the public within the context of a solo show held within selected private art galleries.
The project is funded by the Consell de Mallorca.
The selection of artists and the exhibition of the work is carried out on a voluntary
basis by galleries belonging to AIGAB, The Independent Association of Art Galleries of
the Balearic Region.

Under the title Re-Evolution, Juul explores hypothetical scenarios depicting the future of our species. The result is a freaky experiment, which looks colourful and funny on the surface, creepy and unsettling when you stop to consider the implications. What does this apparently naive exercise reveal about us?

We will be opening our doors to the public for the first time in February 2006 to present the first solo exhibition of Yara El-Sherbini.
La Caja Blanca nace con el objetivo
de promocionar el trabajo de
artistas contemporáneos y
emergentes de distintas culturas y
nacionalidades.
Este espacio y su razón de ser, empezaron a gestarse en el año 2003 bajo el nombre de
Galería Portals, un centro cultural contemporáneo gestionado con colaboración institucional.
El proyecto actual se concibe como galería de arte privada e independiente que centra su
actividad en la promoción de las últimas propuestas plásticas de algunos de los artistas más
talentosos e innovadores que aparecen en el circuito artístico internacional.
