Nakmura’s family roots are steeped in Japanese tradition, which includes the traditional art of making Kimonos “Yuzen”. As a natural result, her childhood was heavily influenced by the arts and Japanese tradition, not least by Japanese spirituality and profound respect for Nature.
The intimate relationship between nature and mankind, the thin curtain which separates life and death, the wisdom of our ancestors are recurring themes in her work which invite the viewer to reflect introspectively.

She began her career as an architect, studying at the Musashino university in Tokyo.
After her graduation, she practised as an architect whilst specialising in the traditional art of “Ikebana”, one of the most respected ancient tea ceremonies. She is also a specialist in Kendo, a martial art derived from the Samurai culture.
